Dominated by the impressive rock called Penyon de Ifach with a height of 332m – the symbol of the Costa Blanca – is the fishing town of Calpe. Many foreigners have settled a residence for retirement and enjoy the beautiful small town with the two long and wide sandy beaches . Calpe with its high-rise buildings, is the smaller version of Benidorm. Both places were offered to the tourism market at the beginning of the 1970´s.

With approximately 30,000 Inhabitants, Calpe is compared  to Altea something bigger and busier, more touristic but also residential. During the high season the population can inflate to 200,000.

The beautiful harbor with the auction hall is another highlight at the foot of the Peñon del Ifach.  Here you can experience fish auctions and then inspired, enjoy one of the countless restaurants and relax from the hustle and bustle.

For the water lovers and beach runners there are two larger beaches (Playa Arenal Bol and Platja La Fossa) available. The two beaches have continually been awarded the European ´Blue Flag´.

A natural salt lake not far from the coast complements the Mediterranean image. Pink Flamingos and other water birds have their habitat in this protected area.

Calpe has many and varied faces and places of interest that invite you to linger. Whether it is during a holiday trip or as a permanent resident.
